2011-12 Administrative Theme
"Impacting and Empowering the Lives of Children through Service"
One word that can be used to describe the Kiwanis movement is “DEDICATION.”
As Kiwanians we have demonstrated our dedication to our communities through the service we provide, especially to the children of our Bahamaland. I believe that the impact that this very club has had on our community over these many years, spans beyond the scope of each individual act of service we conduct or perform.
When we mentor children we foster the future of not only their lives but that of the nation. When we visit a shelter or old folks home, implement a reading program at a school, assist underprivileged families, or participate in some other charitable activity, we are carrying out acts of kindness that impact and empower our citizens. In these times, when the media highlights violence and other forms of darkness, I am proud to say that the contribution of this club is a beacon of light that shines throughout The Bahamas as we endeavor to serve.
I am extremely excited to be a member of this great club and humbly accept the magnificent honor and responsibility as the 50th President of the Kiwanis Club of Nassau. The vision I have for this club is one of high expectations, and it not only revolves around our club, but to ensure that the Kiwanis movement grows in our community and our nation.
By lending a hand all Kiwanians will be able to feel the impact of our club’s productivity. It is amazing the impact Kiwanis has on young children, since it shows them from an early age the importance of service above self, which leaves indelible impressions on them. Our club plans on continuing to foster these relationships by encouraging youth development throughout our nation.
The goals that have been set for this administrative year are:
1. To improve the quality of life for underprivilegde persons in the community.
2. To increase membership by 15% and recruit former members.
3. To strengthen the relationship with our sponsored leadership programs, advisors and club members.
4. To encourage the One Touch Networking Program at the club and Division levels.
5. To promote partnerships between Kiwanis and corporate citizens.
6. To encourage greater attendance at Division Council Meetings and Kiwanis Conventions.
7. To make weekly meetings more enjoyable and exciting through vibrant guest speakers and in-house programs.
8. To support the Division’s goals and objectives towards the Children EmergencyHostel, The Roy Davis Kiwanis Center and The Stapleton School for the Physically Disabled.
Let us continue to dedicate ourselves to the mission of Kiwanis as westrive for excellence. Let us turn the dreams we have for the club into tangible realities as we Think Big and See Far. Let us empower the lives of children through service, one child one community at a time.
