Two donations were approved 1) Rideau Community Support Service - $1,500, 2) Make-A-Wish Foundation - $800. Our two representatives to the Kiwanis International Convention in Las Vegas June 24 to June 27 will be Al & Claudette Corace.
Highlights of December 14th Meeting: The meeting was full of members and partners, 68 in all and we welcomed our guest speaker John Counsell.
Here we grow again as we inducted Deanna Kelly into our Club. Deanna was sponsored by President Gary Coulombe.
Ian Macdonald acted as the Christmas Fine Master telling some good stories and collecting a multitude of fines from all our transgressors and there were a lot of them. Doug Graham was rewarded all of the money from the 50/50 draw by picking out the orange ball.
David Lochead introduced our speaker John Counsell who is associated with the Bethel Pentecostal Church and a talk show host on CFRA radio. John put a different spin on a Christmas story with some very interesting analogies. He said that there were many milestones and measurement at Christmas some joyous and some painful. Jesus gave all for us why shouldn’t we give all for others as well and serving God is the way. He was thanked by Al Corace on behalf of the Club.
Some Christmas Thoughts: I paid $80 dollars for a Christmas tree but it’ll serve a twofold purpose. Up until Christmas dinner I’ll use it as a tree, and after that as a toothpick.
Maybe I’m just sentimental, but every year there’s something about a Christmas tree that brings tears to my eyes – the price!
I dig Santa Claus. You don’t know how rare it is to meet someone on the give.
From all of us to all of you!
&Happy New Year
