My Kiwanis Moment
I do not have one story but three which stand out in my mind.
First of all, when I was inducted into the Kiwanis Club of Woodlawn Golden K in Dartmouth, N.S. and was presented with my pin from my sponsor's lapel, I was so pleased. Secondly, when I was inducted as the President of my club and presented with the President's pin, I was so proud to have my fellow Kiwanians indicate their support and trust in me by selecting me to be their spokesperson and leader.
My most memorable occasion, however, came when I was escorting Governor Ed Kelly and his spouse, Marilyn, around some of the projects as part of his official visit to the Division. As part of the visits we made was one to the Dartmouth Developmental Centre which is a Day-Care Centre for preschoolers and includes in its numbers both mentally and physically challenged children. To see the smiles on their faces and to know that my club and its members were providing service to them in both a hands-on and financial basis was a emotional high akin to watching your own children being born.
If anybody questions why they should be a Kiwanian, send them to me. I'll tell them!
Yours in Kiwanis Service,
PLG Ray De Roche
