My Kiwanis Moment
Last November as we were preparing for our weekly Kiwanis meeting, I made the usual comment to Ron Marentette, who was putting up the flags "And how are you today?".
His reply "Not so good" shook me a bit as he went on to tell me he had just been diagnosed with cancer and was rather tired. Although I suggested that he should probably go home and rest, he preferred to remain at the meeting as he had initiated the contact with the day's speaker and also he was introducing the speaker and more importantly he wanted to be present to hear her message as he regarded her as a most notable member of the community.
And thus he remained to the end of the meeting. That decision related to me how valuable this member believes Kiwanis to be in his life. It also increased in me a greater belief in Kiwanis and its members.
